Project duration May 2011 - September 2013
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

The aim of the project was to develop tools and forms to inspire and help researchers and graduate students in the humanities and social sciences to start collaborative research enterprises, a new organizational form that offers principles, tools and knowledge to work methodically with the mutual exchange of knowledge between and innovation within academia and organizations in society. A specific goal of the project was to provide a basis for tools that incubators and innovation advisors may use to help researchers within humanities and social sciences.

Results and expected effects

The project group created tools and forms that inspired and helped the participants in the manner they were intended. For example, during the programme the participants not only laid the foundation for collaborative research enterprises, but they also participated in founding a non-profit association for collaborative research entrepreneurs. In an accompanying project, there a digital tool is now also created, based on the pilot project, which incubators, innovation advisers, etc. mayuse to support researchers within humanities and social sciences.

Approach and implementation

In the project, a one year program, ´Research Enterprise Programme (humanities/social sciences)´, was designed, tested, documented and analyzed. It was tested on a group of researchers and graduate students in the humanities and social sciences. The pilot project was led by a team with a scientist who had developed a model for collaborative enterprises, a researcher who had worked with collaboration issues in research and education in the humanities for many years and a researcher who was a business developer at SU Innovation.
