Important results from the project
By performing measurements on vehicles in three different scenarios, we can state that the project´s main goal was achieved. This meant that we could confirm that the overall "situational awareness" increased significantly when using two radars compared to one radar in a fictitious traffic situation.
Expected long term effects
The project was of such a nature that it should be considered as an initial attempt to demonstrate the advantages of a possible future collaborative network. This means that we have been able to advance the positions somewhat towards a future collaborative radar network, even if a very large problem area remains. How these problems will be solved or when is impossible to answer at present, but the project has been able to show that a first step on a long journey was possible to take.
Approach and implementation
1. Define the test cases that will serve as the basis for evaluating radar detections.
2. Produce measurements that can be used for fusion and analysis based on
the use cases.
3. Analysis of point cloud radar data of single position and data fusion of
radar measurements with position range, range/cross range/doppler.
as well as statistical analysis of point cloud data.
These activities were carried out well for the most part within the schedule, even if analysis of the data was delayed.
