Purpose and goal
The feasibility study explores ways Kristianstad Municipality can actively promote social wellbeing and prevent involuntary loneliness among adults aged 65+ with hearing impairments. The study will identify the needs and challenges of older adults with hearing impairments, as well as key drivers for developing sound-smart spaces and hearing-smart approaches. The aim is to create an implementation plan for continued work with a method-driven environment for hearing-smart preventive initiatives.
Expected effects and result
The feasibility study is expected to provide an overview of the specific needs and challenges of the target group, propose concrete recommendations for adapting existing indoor space and suggest competence development in hearing-smart approaches. The implementation plan is expected to bring new strategies for increased participation among older adults with hearing impairments and a portfolio of feasible actions that can help reduce social isolation and loneliness within the target group.
Planned approach and implementation
The feasibility study is divided into three work packages. The first package aims to gain knowledge via monitoring and desk research, as well as observations, surveys, and interviews. The second package includes a sound analysis of selected indoor spaces and the mapping of technological and non-technological solutions for adaptation and accessibility. The final package focuses on co-analysis of the collected data, final reporting and the development of an implementation plan for continued work.
