Important results from the project
The project developed a data platform and tested smart traffic zones in three pilots. These demonstrated improvements in transport efficiency, safety, and environmental impact. Solutions were validated using the NESTA model. The project also strengthened the integration of technology, regulation, and user needs, providing valuable input for future policy, business models, and large-scale deployment of digital traffic control.
Expected long term effects
The project is expected to contribute to the standardisation of digital traffic rule management and improved data sharing. It enables sustainable business models and services for digital traffic control. The insights may influence future policies and standards, nationally and at EU level, supporting safer, more efficient, and sustainable urban mobility.
Approach and implementation
The project was organised into seven work packages with a clear structure. Work was iterative, focusing on testing, learning and adaptation. Delays occurred due to resource constraints and late tech deliveries but were managed within the project´s framework. Collaboration among partners was a key success factor. The project was implemented in line with its objectives.
