Smart City World Expo in Barcelona

Purpose and goal

November 13-15 2018 Cleantech Scandinavia gathered 112 Swedish professionals in Smart city development to participate at Smart City World Expo in Barcelona. This was part of a 450+ Nordic delegation. From one of the most visited and active pavilions at this world leading exhibition the participants was provided with individual meetings, seminars, international delegation visits etc. A specific Nordic Smart Challenge Workshop with more than 100 participants was organized at a nearby hotel and a Networking dinner was hosted downtown Barcelona for 400 professionals.

Expected results and effects

90 % av of the participants expressed that they where satisfied or very satisfied. Some of them shared the significance: "To connect with Nordic and international actors, to follow international developments within smart cities" "If you are in smart cities this is the place to be to get the latest knowledge and excellent networking" "I think all the major players that are currently active in the "smart city" market in Sweden were represented at the exhibition" The effects will be seen in more relevant and international smart city development work in Sweden over the coming years.

Planned approach and implementation

The work was performed by a well glued Nordic team with Cleantech Scandinavia (SE), CLEAN (DK), Innovation Norway (NO) och Business Finland (FI). Together the team developed the program (www.nordicpavilion.org), marketed and attracted all these Nordic participants and executed three magic days. The project was co-funded by Nordic Innovation and the project could be used as a role model for Nordic cooperation.
