Important results from the project
SEEMS DEEP reached its main goals and developed geophysical methods to explore deep mineral deposits. Such methods are crucially important as global demand for raw materials is increasing and near-surface mineral deposits are becoming fewer. We combined seismic and electromagnetic methods to facilitate more robust and reliable common earth modelling of deep mineralizations creating an integrated imaging workflow that enables better exploration targeting and judicious use of expensive drilling.

Approach and implementation
The project was led by GTK in Finland, as the geological target structure (a mineral deposit) was located near Koillismaa in Finland. The project partners cooperated through regular meetings to prepare the field measurements at the deposit and to process and interpret the measurements afterwards. The field measurements in late summer 2023 were unproblematic, which meant that the schedule could be largely followed. In addition, the cooperation largely functioned as intended.
