Project duration February 2025 - December 2025
Status Ongoing
Venture Future Mobility

Purpose and goal

Ucity is developing a digital tool for community dialogue around San Jose’s new Mobility Hubs. With support from Vinnova and in collaboration with the City, the tool enables visualization of hub designs in 3D and AR. Residents can explore proposals, talk to an AI agent, and view changes from a bird’s-eye perspective. The tool strengthens democracy and makes it easier to understand, influence, and improve the urban environment in an engaging, inclusive way that invites broader participation.

Expected effects and result

The project will result in a scalable digital tool that improves civic engagement and inclusivity in urban planning. Residents will be able to visualize proposed changes in 3D and AR, talk to an AI agent, and give feedback directly. The tool supports deeper understanding, transparency, and participation. Piloted in San Jose, it can be adapted for other cities, enabling international use and long-term impact in inclusive, data-informed city development processes.

Planned approach and implementation

The project will be carried out in close collaboration with the City of San Jose. In Phase 1, a first version of the digital tool will be developed and tested with local stakeholders. Phase 2 includes on-site pilot demonstrations with residents, followed by collection of feedback. In Phase 3, the tool will be refined based on the results. The work is led by Ucity and integrated with the City’s planning process for the Mobility Hubs, focusing on inclusion, participation, and usability.
