Purpose and goal
Moving to a circular freight transportation system is challenging. The vehicles´ life cycles and sustainability profiles must change. This project will investigate 1) circular business offerings and business model and implications on vehicle design, 2) advancing knowledge regarding the needs and demands of future freight transportation actors and to understand the drivers and implications for circular offerings 3) circular design for radically extended functional life of vehicles.
Expected effects and result
The expected delivery is new knowledge about what is required to prepare actors in the freight transportation system for a future circular system and to develop practical guidelines to support this transition. The project results will be used as a foundation and enabler for more research, subsequent projects and future successful upscaling and implementation.
Planned approach and implementation
The project will follow an established process for circular business model innovation. It will be an iterative way of working focusing on “address the right things” and “design things right”. There will be an exploration of requirements and expectations of future buyers and users. This information will be used for evaluating various scenarios of circular offerings and business models.
