Funding from Vinnova SEK 150 000
Project duration February 2022 - June 2022
Status Completed

Important results from the project

** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** The purpose was to identify, together with a number of mining companies, issues that need to be studied in order to improve the permit processes for environmental testing of mining operations. The goal was to create a proposal with these questions as the basis of a strategic project financed by, among others, Swedish Mining Innovation/ Vinnova. These are fulfilled when a new proposal is submitted.

Expected long term effects

The focus was on the actual process of a permit application and examination, more than on the legislation. The desired result will be to contribute to a better understanding of strengths and weaknesses in the current environmental permit processes and in the application of the water directive. And based on this, consider opportunities for reforms that could lead to a safer, more efficient and more innovation-friendly permitting process for mining projects, and an efficient and adequate application of the Water Directive.

Approach and implementation

** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** 4 workshops have been held. No. 1 - brainstorming about what is important. No. 2 - concentration of the number of issues, No. 3 - what is going on in Sweden and the EU regarding investigations, No. 4 - new proposal. It was a short but intensive project period with great commitment from everyone. As the proposal was coming in earlier than expected, the final analysis was a bit messy, but still the project partners solved it together as the topic is so important.
