Important results from the project

** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** The goal was to develop an infrared scanning confocal microscope that uses superconducting detectors to be able to image with single photons. We have built a prototype at KTH which is now functional.

Expected long term effects

** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** The microscope has two imaging options: a ccd camera for alignment and positioning of the object and a scanned laser image. The microscope images areas with a 150 by 150 micrometer area at up to 10 images per second. The wavelength used is 1550 nm, but can easily be changed to a longer wavelength.

Approach and implementation

** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** The project started in the spring of 2022 and started smoothly. Design of the first prototype went smoothly and the initial challenges were: - Design the microscope for top-down illumination - Design the microscope for the possibility of performing tests on live animals - Choose a suitable scanning mirror. The last point proved to be the big challenge and a lot of time was lost because the first mirror bought did not meet the specifications promised.
