Purpose and goal

The long-term goal of transformation to Forest bioeconomy 3.0 is higher value creation for increased competitiveness. The purpose of the Prestudy is to investigate the conditions for taking the step towards Forest Bioeconomy 3.0, with the aim of mapping the conditions and carrying out an analysis regarding an analytical and practical methodological support for a future project portfolio in this case with a particular focus on international collaborations between Värmland/Europe and Canada.

Expected effects and result

The prestudy will develop an overview in the form of a synergy map for forest bioeconomy that includes the policy landscape, funding opportunities and collaboration opportunities in both research and innovation between Värmland and Canada as well as including other regions within EU. The preliminary study will also generate a draft of a developed vision for forest bioeconomy in Värmland as well as a draft of a method for global cooperation within a branch with support of EU funding.

Planned approach and implementation

The feasibility study will focus on two work packages: AP 1 which aims to map existing and possible collaboration environments and financing instruments within Sweden, EU and Canada. AP2 which aims to define vision and identify movements needed to cope with the transformation from Forest bioeconomy 2.0 to Forest bioeconomy 3.0 and define various important actions, which are packaged as a draft of a future method, to tackle such a movement.
