Important results from the project
The objective of the feasibility study has been met by contributing to the basis for establishing and operating a system demonstrator, where Swedish need owners can jointly develop, test and validate solutions to strengthen Swedish competitiveness, accelerate the electrification of industry and active participation in the electricity system, and support the Swedish electricity system´s ability to enable the energy transition. Incl. their needs, solutions, and challenges.
Expected long term effects
The feasibility study has laid the foundations for the establishment of a system demonstrator in the electricity system area, and increased understanding of the future values for such a system. Sweden´s lack of a large-scale center with the possibility of electric power technical testing and demo has hampered Swedish innovation, development and implementation of solutions that have potential to strengthen the Swedish electricity system´s ability to enable the energy transition.
Approach and implementation
The schedule has been challenging, with the decision announced 29/4 for project period 1/5–31/10. Short start, and the holiday period, was a challenge to find time for commitment during the first project months. The goal of the project has been to create a basis for the establishment of a future system demonstrator, with support from Vinnova. The framework for such support was unknown until the last month of the project, which also have had a direct impact on how the work was designed.
