Important results from the project

The project has reached the goal of completing teaching materials for the technology subject in primary school. A teaching material that covers all electronics - related points of the syllabus and also combines it with what students are expected to learn in control, automation and programming. The material has been packaged as two themes. Smarter products were launched in December 2019 and are primarily aimed at Years 4-6. The smarter city was launched in December 2020 and is aimed primarily at slightly older students in years 7-9.

Expected long term effects

The final effects are long-term and come only when students use the teaching material. It is then expected to increase knowledge of and interest in electronics and programming. The teaching material reaches the students through NTA´s members, 137 municipalities and 41 independent school principals. These members comprise almost 2/3 of all students in the country.

Approach and implementation

The project has involved many new contacts between actors in the Swedish education system and companies in the electronics industry. It has given both sides valuable insights about each other. Authorities such as the National Agency for Education and the Swedish Schools Inspectorate have also participated, which has made it easier for the project to develop relevant material. It has also given the authorities new contacts that have given them insight into the companies´ conditions and valuable feedback on what is required of the students once they enter working life.
