Purpose and goal

The goal of NOTTS is to develop a service architecture including advanced content distribution methods together with QoE monitoring and OTT application control. NOTTS has provided technological solutions for all involved stakeholders and a NOTTS ecosystem. NOTTS supplies European OTT service providers with opportunities to take revenue from improved business. NOTTS investigates business models in which traditional network operators can be part of the OTT business and contributes to this objective with a combination of technical network solutions and business development.

Expected results and effects

The main result of the project is a new service architecture including advanced content distribution methods together with QoE monitoring and OTT application control. NOTTS will have an impact in several ways. The improved business opportunities including business models where network operators are a part will result in increased revenue for industry. The end user will experience improved quality of experience and thus improved satisfaction.

Planned approach and implementation

NOTTS was coordinated by Indra, Spain. The work was organised in work packages lead by partners. Each work package had tasks coordinated by partners eg EABS, ACR, LTH and ALK. The project has had partner meetings several times per years complemented by phone conferences. 2 workshops on traffic measurements have been held by ACR. Interaction between partners has been a priority especially in the area of content demand patterns. This has resulted in new collaborations but also common datasets and a wide dissemination of results both in the industry and in the research world.
