Important results from the project

The aim of this project has been to reduce noise from crushing sites to increase the possibility to establish sites close to urban areas. The project has developed conditions and guidelines that can be used by regulatory authorities, contractors and consultants to establish and allow crushing sites in urban areas and urban environments. The solutions that have been developed include a developed noise calculation model, real-time monitoring of noise, customer support and education for contractors.

Expected long term effects

Contractors and clients have become aware of the project´s solutions and a guide to noise management at crushing sites has been communicated to clients and contractors and is available. Customer support for the procurement of mass logistics centers has also been developed in the project. The proposed solutions are implemented and distributed through networks and through pilot courses to customers, which contributes to opportunities for testing new business approaches in pilot facilities and contract forms that benefit new technology in the future.

Approach and implementation

The project was carried out with a project organization consisting of 6 work packages, where each work package had a different focus on noise management at mass handling sites. The work packages had different target groups of contractors, clients and consultants at different stages of the crushing: planning, procurement, contracting and operation. The work packages have also collaborated and contributed knowledge to each other to keep a common thread through the process.
