Purpose and goal
NodeX Cloud, a Lund University spin-out, is preparing a competitive application to the European Innovation Council (EIC) Accelerator for a sovereign, decentralized cloud storage platform. The purpose of this planning project is to build the strategic, technical, and commercial foundations of that submission. Goals: validate the value proposition with European pilot customers, produce a TRL 6–8 technical roadmap with post-quantum readiness, quantify climate impact, and prepare an investment case.
Expected effects and result
The planning project will deliver a submission-ready EIC Accelerator application. Longer-term, the main project aims to strengthen European digital sovereignty through GDPR-, NIS2- and DORA-compliant cloud infrastructure; reduce operational energy consumption of cloud storage compared with centralized alternatives; improve resilience against ransomware and large-scale service outages for European organizations; and grow a Swedish deep-tech SME with EU-wide commercial reach.
Planned approach and implementation
The project runs from May to October 2026 and is organized into six focused work packages, each producing a defined input to the EIC Accelerator proposal: (1) co-production of the written application with external writing support, (2) customer validation and letters of intent, (3) technical roadmap and post-quantum analysis, (4) greenhouse-gas-avoidance calculation, (5) financial modelling and investment case, and (6) project management and pitch preparation.
