Purpose and goal
The purpose of the pilot study was to gather information and carry out analysis of OEM manufacturers and after market needs for functionality in the antenna connection, as well as examine what is technically feasible. The feasibility study has answered the following questions, which are the basis for continued work with productization: - Definition of market for commercial vehicles -Identification of Stakeholders and competitors on the market -Smarteq´s position in the the value chain -Common Technical properties -Design a first antenna prototype that met the technical spec.
Expected results and effects
Commercial vehicle market has a strong growth, the EU produces 12.1%. China and the United States tops the list with 32.9% and 15% respectively. The bus market is a growing market, EU has increased its production by 2.2 million vehicles 9.6% compared to 2013. Stakeholders and competitors on the bus market is divided as follows: Tier 1: Bus Manufacturer Tier 2: System Suppliers Tier 3: Distributors of components Tier 4: Antenna Manufacturer Antenna Manufacturers TIER 4 has the greatest opportunity for sales via TIER 2 and 3. Smarteq see great potential in developing a product to the market.
Planned approach and implementation
Questions posed in the pilot study where analyzed by the following steps: - Literature studies regarding bus market and its operators - Data sheets for antennas and documents with antenna theory related to bus antennas are analyzed - Statistics from the authorities in Europe to survey the market - Interviews with players from the market, Tier1 to Tier 4 carried out with a questionnaire consisting of both open and closed questions with a non-conductive formulation through Googel Forum. -Competitor antennas have been analyzed -Summary of technical requirements -Antenna prototypes
