Important results from the project

The "My Chance" model is an initiative developed by 4 civil society organizations in collaboration with a school to improve student school results. Through an integrated after-school program grounded in evidence-based methods for physical activity, academic support, and personal development – emphasizing relationship-building and target group involvement– it has demonstrated measurable impact for improved academic achievement and self-confidence. It is effective, resource-efficient and scalable.

Expected long term effects

The project provides a model for compensatory interventions implemented by civil society in partnership with schools, yielding significant outcomes for students’ school results and personal development. The model is resource-efficient, straightforward to implement and scale and demonstrate how civil society can support schools in fulfilling their compensatory mandate. The after-school program demonstrates that an integrated program can engage a broader range of students and enhance impact.

Approach and implementation

The partnership model and activity program were implemented as planned, with minor adjustments through co-design with school leadership, mentors, and students. The target group was adjusted to grades 7 and 8, and the program was held in two separate groups. The integrated program, combining three focus areas, proved effective in achieving the intended results for the students. The project was extended to the following school year to provide continued support to the students in grade 9.
