Purpose and goal

In this project, we will apply our pioneering silicon (Si) photonic microelectromechanical system (MEMS) sensor platform to realize an optically operated sonar array. Furthermore, we will explore if navigation-grade optical gyros can be implemented in the same platform.

Expected effects and result

An optically operated sonar-array sensor demonstrator based on our Si photonic MEMS platform for application in AUVs.

Planned approach and implementation

The team at KTH will design, fabricate, and evaluate the sensors. The team at Saab will provide input on specifications and assist with characterization.
