Methods for increased productivity in geodetic surveying

Reference number
Coordinator Trafikverket - Trafikverket Region Öst
Funding from Vinnova SEK 827 124
Project duration September 2021 - March 2023
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

The project focus on opportunities for improvement and to identify "low-hanging fruit" and facilitate work related to geodetic measurement. The work has resulted in two guides that will facilitate the preparation of descriptions: Guide for the preparation of implementation description UAS, with aim of creating best practice for UAS. Guide for the establishment of method descriptions Geodetic surveying technology, with aim of creating a standardized structure for the establishment of method descriptions.

Expected results and effects

Developing this type of descriptions/guides can facilitate how geodetical work is executed in projects and is important to create a starting point for further development and innovation in this area. With clear descriptions, method proposals can be communicated in a structured and more standardized way. It will simplify how to justify different measurement methods and to weigh several factors together to better match the purpose of the measurement and to set reasonable tolerances for different measurements.

Planned approach and implementation

The project has been carried out using two working groups, one group per respective work package, where representatives from the Swedish Transport Administration, consulting companies and contractors have participated. The working method has been workshops and discussions in both large and small groups, which in turn have provided the basis for the writing of the guides, which has continued in parallel with the discussions. The documentation has been produced in collaboration and with representation from several parties active in the civil engineering industry.
