Important results from the project
The purpose and aim of the project were to map carbon fibre waste and create new business constellations for future collaborations. The goal of this has been achieved as far as possible with respect to corporate secrets. The results were received through interviews where the companies presented their level of waste and then their problems around this. During an e-workshop, the companies come up with different ideas about how a collaboration in Sweden would look like. The companies did also receive information about the latest in recycling and how to do it better.
Expected long term effects
The project resulted in an understanding of the level of carbon fibre waste companies in Sweden have. The results have shown to be slightly lower than in the rest of the world, but we still have some distance to go. It has also given the companies and research institutes an understanding of the problem they are facing. During the project, interviews and e-workshops were held where results were presented and where suggestions were made on how to handle the spill. It has also been discussed how collaboration in Sweden would look like. Some of the ideas discussed will be taken further.
Approach and implementation
The plan has been to do a survey of the latest in recycling to understand the trends. Then to call around and interview Sweden´s largest carbon fibre users, where the objective was to find out their amount of spill. But also, to hear about the problems around this and then to educate the companies on what possibilities there are around recycling. A workshop was then planned where the companies was going to meet to discuss collaborations to reduce our carbon fibre waste. However, that workshop was interrupted and exchanged for an e-workshop, thanks to current situation in Sweden.
