Purpose and goal
The project has developed a modularized course package for professional engineers in additive manufacturing (AM) at the advanced level. The target group is professional engineers who need to update their technical know-how and their understanding of the interplay between technology and business development. The package contains six 2.5 credits courses that are wholly or mostly distance-based to suit professionals. Three are focused on management and innovation issues, and three are focused on technical issues.
Expected results and effects
The courses have been modularized to enable practitioners to read courses at any pace and order. The courses are almost entirely distance-based through their approach to short pre-recorded lectures, quizzes, assignments / student recordings. Experience from the program contributes to the development of a master´s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Sustainable design and Innovation, and the master´s program Data Analytics and Service Innovation. Participation makes it easier for companies to keep up with technology development, such as in Industry 4.0.
Planned approach and implementation
The course content was co-developed together with the industry association for additive manufacturing (SVEAT), Civilingenjör 4.0, Högskolepedagogiskt Center (HPC), RISE and the Open University. The development has taken place through pedagogically and content-oriented workshops. Participating teachers have undergone distance-based training at international universities. The course content has been quality assured through the participating higher education institutions (Halmstad University, Högskolan Väst)´s regular quality processes for education.
