Important results from the project
The project iterative multidirectional methodologies and activities were met with enthusiasm within the innovation portfolio and relevant actors and gathered attention in research circles. This lead to invitations to conferences, seminar and meetings and the planning of future collaborations. The legal mapping contributed to a deeper understanding of legal barriers and concerns as well as opportunities for the innovation portfolio facilitating the innovation actors to navigate them.
Expected long term effects
In the long run the project outputs are likely to influence the innovation portfolio but also external actors. The project expected impact is twofold: (1) Contribution to the development of the broader innovation portfolio, serving as knowledge creation and testing grounds to mitigate legal barriers for technological development. (2) Contribution to exploring opportunities for responsible technology governance frameworks in the emerging individualised immersive entertainment industries.
Approach and implementation
The project was implemented in three main phases: 1) Mapping, 2) Synthesis and 3) Testing and Forecasting followed by 4) Reporting. Across these phases the work was organised in work packages: project management; legal analysis; actors’ engagement and communication and events. The work was conducted using a combination of a classical legal research methodology with collaborative experimental research approaches aimed at solving normative challenges through stakeholder engagement and dialogue.
