Purpose and goal

The project´s objective is to verify a large-scale solution for sustainable deliveries of chilled foods in a verified unbroken cold chain adapted to the e-commerce distribution processes to the end customer. Unique is that this takes place without active cooling during transport through an insulating board with a connected temperature sensor to verify an unbroken cooling chain. This enables energy efficiency of refrigerated transports as energy for cooling is not supplied during transport. Completely new vehicle types can be used, such as electric vehicles.

Expected results and effects

To develop, demonstrate and verify unbroken cold chain with no added cold when distributing chilled and frozen foods and show the solution´s potential for distribution in completely new and more sustainable ways. The long-term goal is a global solution in the food sector but also in other sectors. Furthermore, the project intends to spread knowledge and develop the research front around food and e-commerce logistics through ReLog and their know-how in packaging logistics.

Planned approach and implementation

Project management is AP1 (work package 1) and includes operational project management responsibility for the project coordination between parties and work packages as well as related project and other activities as well as administration and reporting.
