Purpose and goal
The aim is to increase the reliability of time and navigation data from Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) by distributing information about current system performance to end users via 5G. The objective is to develop a digital infrastructure for information and warnings for GNSS perturbations affecting navigation and time transmission.
Expected effects and result
Increased knowledge of GNSS performance under non-ideal conditions for a mass market requiring medium to high precision and high to very high reliability. As a result, prototype solutions intended for using contemporary performance information as a basis for decision-making.
Planned approach and implementation
For reliable navigation and time transfer with GNSS during high ionospheric activity: - collect data from SWEPOS - implement software for warnings and information - implement a distribution prototype for said information via 5G - evaluate the prototype on a test track, in mixed real-life environments including sparsely populated areas close to national borders - develop a reference framework for evaluating navigation and time distribution using said information and warnings
