Important results from the project
The goal of the project was to provide different target groups with educational material, educational tools and validation methods for qualifications. The project had three main areas: 1. Complementary material 2. Common availability 3. Validation of qualifications The project resulted in new and updated reading materials in welding technology, a common educational platform (www.metallkompetens.se) with an interface for both users and educators as well as a validation system for qualifications in foundry technology.
Expected long term effects
The expected effect of the project is a greater availability of educational materials in the area of metallic materials. By providing educational material on a common platform in digital format, the search for information is expected to be simplified for the user. The new tool for user-created material simplifies for companies as well as educators. The system for validating qualifications fills a strong need from companies in the foundry industry.
Approach and implementation
The platform functionality was specified through a series of workshops with the material owners and was largely based on interviews carried out in the previous MetallKompetens project (2017-05415). The platform was developed by a web agency in close collaboration with the project group. Update needs were identified in welding technology and both new and revised educational materials were produced. A validation system for qualifications has been implemented for the Swedish foundry industry. The validation system is based on the SeQF standard and connects to the platform.
