Important results from the project
The overall goal has been to increase the long-term scaling potential of circular construction with systematic participation of Sweden´s three largest cities, the industry, and other cities and regions. This has been achieved by creating processes for collaboration, knowledge, and exchange of experience. A public and user-friendly library on circular construction has been developed and can be found on CCBuild´s website. A number of guidelines have been developed to support the transition.
Expected long term effects
In the longer term, the results can contribute to circular construction becoming the norm in the industry. Through practical tools and increased collaboration, better conditions are created for reuse of building materials, reduced emissions, more efficient use of resources and increased knowledge. This leads to sustainable urban development, innovation in the construction sector and strengthened cooperation between public and private actors.
Approach and implementation
The work built on cooperation and exchange of experience between the major cities and collaboration with the industry. The work was organized in joint processes, dialogues and exchange of experience through process management from IVL and Lindholmen Science Park.Initially, important issues related to circular construction were identified, where 6 areas were prioritized: Circular procurement, Construction materials, Circular mass management, Supervision, Process and access and Circular planning.
