Important results from the project
The goal was to investigate the impact of map accuracy on positioning errors in digital twins for localization. For that purpose a digital twin was implemented. The real world was mimicked by Sionna RT for creating a synthetic "real" channel for a given map. An implementation of a digital twin for positioning used a randomly perturbed realization of the same map (translations and rotations of buildings) to estimate the position and evaluate the position errors. The goal was met.
Expected long term effects
The project investigated basics, such as map inaccuracies, on digital twins for localization. The work requires further studies with real measurement data and more realistic setup such as direction and delay estimation from real signals.
Approach and implementation
The plan developed and executed by the master thesis student was good. The implementation and the obtained results form the basis for possible future investigations after this project.
