International testbeds UK - A pilot for Swedish innovations at the NHS

Reference number
Coordinator Sveriges exportråd - Exportrådet
Funding from Vinnova SEK 550 000
Project duration June 2012 - May 2013
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

The five Swedish lifescience and medical technology companies that participated in the pilot project and exclusive matchmaking process, were all presented with the opportunity to meet with selected hospitals and clinics correlating to their preferred target customer profile. In addition, the companies received valuable input aiding them in further efforts of processing the hospitals with a test installation in focus.

Results and expected effects

Each of the participating companies met key decision makers and introduced their innovations and products to at least two selected, individual hospitals. This enabled the companies to receive feedback on their products from an international perspective, an opportunity to market their solutions and finally to strenghten their brand on the British market. Furthermore, a dialogue of performing a test installation was topical for each of the participating companies.

Approach and implementation

The pilot project was divided into four steps; application period, NHS contact phase, individual meetings with the NHS and project evaluation and follow up. The steps contained individual meetings with the participants in order to ensure proper understanding of their products as well as their goals. Each of the steps and meetings were appreciated by the companies as stated in their project evaluation, but time consuming. Hence, there is room to streamline the project in a potential replication.
