Important results from the project

Yes, the project fulfilled the goal of initiating and deepening international collaborations on gender, sustainability and industrial transformation in the mining sector through research visits to Poland and England. This has in turn laid the foundation for continued joint work in the form of applications and scientific articles. Other important results were a deeper understanding of our own research environment and the context of the Swedish mining industry.

Expected long term effects

The joint article and future publications will contribute to developing comparative and theoretically advanced perspectives on gender and industrial transition. The initiated collaborations constitute a platform for future applications to international and national research programs. The project creates opportunities for younger researchers to participate in international collaborations, which strengthens the competence base for future research and innovation.

Approach and implementation

The project was carried out in the autumn of 2025 by four senior and junior gender researchers in human work science. The work consisted of initiating, implementing and following up visits to Wrocław University of Science and Technology (Poland) (sustainable mining and social dimensions of industrial transition in post-coal regions), and the Centre for Research in Equality and Diversity (CRED), Queen Mary University of London (UK) (gender and masculinity in male-dominated sectors).

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
