Important results from the project

The project resulted in nine strategies to support small and medium-sized manufacturing enterprises (SMEs) in their green transition while strengthening their competitiveness. The strategies are aimed at organizations in public support systems that assist SMEs through education, consulting, financing, investigation, and coaching. Emphasis is placed on increasing the visibility of available support, enhancing collaboration between support actors, and ensuring the right support at the right time.

Expected long term effects

The strategies aim to guide future initiatives in the field to achieve the intended effects. To reach this long-term impact, the strategies are communicated through various seminars, workshops, and publications to relevant organizations both nationally and regionally. Examples include civil servants in the government offices and actors within Net Zero Industry, which is part of the joint initiative by Swedish research funders within Impact Innovation, as well as various universities.

Approach and implementation

The study was conducted interactively, based on approx. 100 interviews with financiers, decision-makers in support organizations, coaches, and business advisors who carry out direct support activities, as well as SMEs. Further, an overall mapping of the various actors in the support system was carried out. The interviewees were invited to five well-attended digital workshops where preliminary results were presented and discussed before final conclusions were drawn and reports were completed.
