Intelligently Designed Antimicrobial Surfaces

Reference number
Coordinator Nanexa AB
Funding from Vinnova SEK 1 669 485
Project duration September 2013 - November 2014
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

The aim of the project is to form a consortium to jointly develop new wound dressings. The goal of the project is to make a commercial product based on the new wound dressing, which the partners have concluded requires having antimicrobial and biocompatible properties. Nanexa has within the framework of cooperation developed a new composite material that has those characteristics, intended to coat the existing wound dressing with. Nanexa has also shown that it is possible to coat the polymeric material with the composite.

Results and expected effects

The project partners have jointly defined what is to be achieved within the project and a contract is concluded. Nanexa has developed a composite material that meets the project criteria and the composite material has been adapted for occupancy of existing wound dressing material. The results so far are in line with the project´s expectations.

Approach and implementation

According to the project plan, the partners will jointly define the goals for a new wound dressing - this has been done. The work has been divided between the project partners. Nanexas task was to develop a new material that meets the objectives and to apply this material to existing wound dressing material. This has been done successfully. The partners of Nanexa and adjustments will then test the new material and optimizations will be performed.
