Project duration November 2014 - December 2017
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

The project´s goal was to increase the rate of identification of the patient in prehospital care and increase the amount of information, which the prehospital care is based on. The project intended to simplify the legal process of consent between patient and healthcare provider.

Expected results and effects

Securing the identity as well as the social and medical information from the patient itself have been of great importance to the ambulance staff. Securing the identity and extended information has also helped to facilitate other aspects of care. The assessment is that the project has confirmed that this type of product creates added value in healthcare (and also in municipal units). SU plans continued collaboration with ICE charms During the simulations, new areas were identified where the need of the product’s functionality is high

Planned approach and implementation

Patients were recruited through patient associations and social media. 382 patients carried the bracelet. The reason we did not achieve our goal was the delay we reported in the Project Summary. Unlike authentic cases, simulations have given us an invaluable opportunity to attend and see how the system is used in real situations. This has, in turn, provided us with the knowledge that the system contributes positively to parts of the healthcare, in addition to the prehospital environment, which we could not predict with the initial implementation.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
