Important results from the project

The project met the goals of creating new ways of working for place-based innovation and deeper collaboration between municipality, industry, academia and civil society. Through Hagforsmodellen and Framtidsfönster developed methods for participation, dialogue and shared learning. The work has strengthened the attractiveness of the place and provided new ways to connect local initiatives to regional and national transformation. The results are now being used in municipality development strategy.

Expected long term effects

In the long term, the project is expected to contribute to a more sustainable, inclusive and innovative development of Swedish industrial towns. Through the Hagfors Model, the ability to collaborate across sectors and turn local needs into joint action is strengthened. The work creates new forms of participation, reinforces social sustainability and lays the foundation for mission-driven development, where towns like Hagfors become active drivers in the transition towards a sustainable society.

Approach and implementation

The project followed plan and was based on co-creation between the municipality, industry, academia and civil society. Through the Futures Bazaar and the Future Window, new ways of engaging citizens in transition and strategy work were tested. Activities evolved iteratively with strong participation. Collaboration worked well and created new relations and methods, though coordinating many actors in a short time was a challenge and key learning.
