Purpose and goal

The project has focused on organizational conditions for innovation, with a focus on the management and organising of employee-driven innovation. The work has been carried out in two sub-studies: "Leaders at the cutting edge" (2017), and "Organizing organizational innovation" (2018-2019).

Expected results and effects

The participants jointly develop knowledge about innovation and favorable organizational conditions for innovation in the public sector through an interactive approach. Thereby, the participating municipalities will be able to enhance their capacity for innovation and innovation management. In the long run, the participating municipalities can take advantage of employee innovations and thus have more and relevant innovations. Research and experience-based knowledge about innovation management have been distributed and utilized in other organizations.

Planned approach and implementation

The project was based on an interactive approach where practice systems and research systems are working together in ongoing development processes towards increased innovation capacity in local government. Data collection in the project was mainly based on continuos interviews and participant observations. Joint knowledge sharing and analysis took place in joint workshops and through direct feedback and discussions in relation to data collection.
