Purpose and goal

The purpose was to formulate a strategic research, innovation and action agenda for engaging Swedish organisations with BoP needs and opportunities. Three specific goals were achieved: 1.Scoped agenda based matching the needs of the BoP with the core capabilities of Swedish organisations - defined around ´Co-creating inclusive business models for mutual benefit´ 2.Opportunities mapped for 6 sectors: agriculture and forestry, water and sanitation, energy, ICT, healthcare, textiles and clothing 3.Sector based ambitions and supportive framework workstreams defined in detail

Results and expected effects

The Agenda built knowledge on the inclusive business field, identified Swedish capabilities towards global development challenges and engaged Swedish organisations to co-create with the BoP for mutual benefit. As a result, Swedish industry will collaborate to: improve agricultural efficiency of smallholders, provide access to WASH solutions, adopt inclusive business models in the textiles sector, co-create a comprehensive set of ICT solutions to empower people, enable green energy access and address healthcare challenges in developing countries through inclusive business

Approach and implementation

The Agenda was designed to collaboratively define the scope and ambitions of the Swedish industry to meet development global challenges for mutual benefits through inclusive business models. Engagement of representatives from Swedish industry through network and events made possible to set the scope and ambitions of the Agenda. After that, a number of workshops and interviews were run to map Swedish industry capabilities and identifying major challenges. With that information, Inclusive Business Sweden developed a national innovation strategy for inclusive business.
