Important results from the project
During 2021, IEG has established the roadmap for creating the industry-wide platform for utilizing expected changes in the design standard (Eurocode) for industrial development. A total of 46 organizations / authorities / companies are involved that jointly contribute to a broad engagement and efficient use of resources. 17 different subprojects have been initiated. The technical results have been processed in workshops, enquiry and in steering- and reference groups. This creates a sound base for continuing to test the results on both individual structures and project.
Expected long term effects
Technical results from this initial work are presented in 7 different work reports that create a basis for a common interpretation of key concepts in Eurocode. These include loads, partial coefficients and Ground Model. In addition to the technical results that provide the basis for the authorities´ national choices and the industry´s application, the greatest visible effect is industry collaboration. Forums have been created where people with different backgrounds and perspectives meet in a technical discussion to jointly find the best interpretation for further development.
Approach and implementation
The work within IEG is driven by industry for industry. The most competent employees at the member companies have been engaged to carry out the analyzes required to make the best use of the changes in the forthcoming design rules for development. Each sub-project has a well-defined area of responsibility, where project are initiated and results are combined to create carefully considered recommendations for national application. All members have opportunities to contribute to the work through workshops and enquiries. The board ensures the holistic view of all results.
