Important results from the project
The project largely achieved its goals. The main outcome is increased understanding of the target group’s needs, barriers, and how physical activity should be organized and adapted for children and young people with neurodevelopmental conditions (NDC). The report presents concrete recommendations to improve access to physical activity. New networks and strong shared commitment have been established and are now turning into concrete actions in the project’s continuation.
Expected long term effects
The project is expected to improve the physical, mental, and social health of young people with NDC by increasing access to physical activity during school and leisure time. It will strengthen collaboration between schools, healthcare, sports, and wellness actors, enhance understanding of common challenges related to NDC and physical activity, and build sustainable structures that promote inclusion, attendance, and well-being.
Approach and implementation
Data collection took place from March to August 2025 through focus groups, interviews, and a survey. A broad range of individuals in contact with the target group, as well as the target group themselves, were included. Each session featured a brief educational component on neurodevelopmental conditions and physical activity. The project’s results, including recommended actions, are published in a public report, shared across multiple forums, and the project’s continuation is planned and funded.
