Important results from the project

The project has focused on global commercialization of digital business model innovation (DBMI) in industrial ecosystems by ensuring increased knowledge of collaboration and adaptation of DBMI in global industrial ecosystems. More specifically, the project aim was to develop the ability of Swedish providers and their global ecosystem partners to commercialize DBMIs towards global markets.

Expected long term effects

The project has developed a roadmap for global rollout of DBMI and dissemination of knowledge towards ecosystem actors, academia & society globally. Partner companies have been supported in adapting DBMIs and developing global ecosystem partner capabilities for business model commercialization to global markets. The project has resulted in numerous academic and practitioner papers. We have also held numerous workshops with partner companies and companies outside the project.

Approach and implementation

The project consortium has included academics members from Luleå University of Technology, three Swedish providers (Komatsu Forest, Volvo CE and Sandvik), their digitalization partners (e.g. Newtrax, IBM) as well as five delivery partners from global markets such as the India, Germany and Australia. A key focus has been on assessing readiness of global commercialization for DBMI, developing ecosystem actors capabilities for commercialization, and developing a roadmap for global DBMI implementation support.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
