Purpose and goal

Malmö together with VA SYD and SLU Alnarp would now implement an innovation contest where the aim is to create functional systems for: those who will sort their waste through systems, contractors that collect various factions and those who have responsibility for maintenance of the systems. Competition entries should address the problems currently associated with recycling in dense urban environments. The system to be designed will allow for investments that were not possible in the dense environment. The race will start from the development area north Sorgenfrivägen in Malmö.

Results and expected effects

The waste management system being developed for Northern Sorgenfrivägen will be indicative of how the waste separation system developed in future Malmö. The competition shall be conducted so that the participating concepts to be possible to construct both on private land and on public land. The solutions created has great potential to be commercialized on a large scale in Malmo, Sweden and internationally. The new system the contest expect to create will possible increase packaging recycling and disposal of food-, electronic- and hazardous waste.
