Important results from the project
The project showed how a future prototype can inspire engagement and dialogue on biodiversity and urban development. Plan B made the issue more tangible through an immersive audio walk for residents, students, and decision-makers. A key success was its alignment with municipal initiatives, strengthening discussions with policymakers. It led to new collaborations and outreach through its launch in Sollentuna, Universeum, and the Gothenburg Science Festival. The dialogue will continue in 2025.
Expected long term effects
The project is expected to foster dialogue on sustainable urban development, especially among youth, with schools as a key focus in 2025. Anchored in municipal strategies, the audio walk serves as a platform for discussions between residents and decision-makers. Positive feedback from politicians and civil servants supports continued conversations on biodiversity and mobility. The project also highlights urban planning conflicts and offers insights into future challenges.
Approach and implementation
The project followed a structured process, using horizon scanning as a foundation to develop four future scenarios that led to an ideation process and three focus areas, including an audio walk for 2045. Collaboration with Sollentuna Municipality engaged various stakeholders. Visualizing biodiversity in winter was challenging but solved with an audio format. The project generated strong interest, but resources for continued dialogue in 2025 are lacking.
