Call Standardization as a tool for increased competitiveness

Important results from the project

The purpose of the forum is to gather standardization experts, manufacturers and users of digitized production equipment in a network that can provide support in understanding and navigating standards and standardization work for smart production. The goal is to offer the industry workshops, seminars, coaching, a conference, and increase Swedish industry´s ability to exploit opportunities that digitization and standards create. Due to the pandemic, the focus has been on online workshops for the network. In 2022, decisions will be made regarding the continuation of the forum.

Expected long term effects

The project has had six online workshops of 2-3 h with presentations on standards (overview and specific standards), experience from concrete use cases from industry, demonstrators, projects from academia, international experts from standardization groups, information about the forum, SEIIA and discussion opportunities. A total of 279 people have been registered from 166 different organizations from academia, authorities, manufacturers, suppliers, consultants, standardization organizations. The forum has shown great value for Swedish industry.

Approach and implementation

The project was extended to 1.5 years due to the pandemic. The partners complemented each other well: standards experts (KTH, Lund Uni, SIS), arrangement / invitations (Automation Reg), and project management and industry needs (RISE). The plan is to start the forum 2022 with gradually increased activity in the coming years, balancing the number of members. A supporting method can then be developed for navigation of standards within product and production development and production. To strengthen the forum funding is sought, and dialogues on closer cooperation are held with SEIIA.
