Purpose and goal
The goal of the project is to strengthen knowledge and ability for sustainable transition through foresight methods with Doughnut Economics as a framework. The project will integrate foresight methods into planning processes to contribute to development of the location, as well as establish methods for citizen participation with foresight as a basic method. The aim is to explore and test The Doughnut as a framework for foresight, and how the model can engage citizens in sustainable transition.
Expected effects and result
The project creates both physical placemaking and performative experiences that engage around future visions for Tomelilla and eastern Skåne. Expected effects are also increased competence in foresight methods for sustainable community development, strengthened local commitment, new structures for working with foresight and co-creation. Dissemination of lessons learned from the project inspires other small municipalities and rural areas to work with foresight methods in sustainable transition.
Planned approach and implementation
Municipality officials and the research group develop methods and lead study circles that increase the ability to imagine o/possible futures. Study circles provide tools to shape visions of the future and open up dialogue. Prototyping future vision on the site where a new school is to be built is co-created with school students, associations and village teams. Designing is done further through performances where the participants interact and create links between the existing and the imaginary.
