Important results from the project

The purpose of this project was to investigate the scalability potential of our manufacturing process and explore different applications for our product. These goals have largely been met. Process parameters have been modified for a faster production and various packaging concepts were prototyped. We also intended to collaborate with manufacturers on developing a packaging brand which apparently the time needed for such a collaboration to take place, was underestimated. However, at the moment good discussions are going on.

Expected long term effects

Overall, the project results are promising. We still need to collaborate with customers/partners; however, we can now plan for a pilot plant based on the modified manufacturing procedure. We have received some initial positive feedbacks; however, we expect to see even more interest toward our product as e-commerce grows quite rapidly due to the recent pandemic.

Approach and implementation

A major part of the project had been performed according to the plan. The necessary tools obtained and constructed. The experiments for producing prototypes and investigating process parameters have been carried out. Materials characterization and product testing by the third party have not been performed due to the pandemic exceptional situation; however, a limited compression and drop/throw tests had been performed in house. We also took part in the relevant events and customer meetings as we planned for.
