Important results from the project

The aim of the prestudy was to accelerate technology-enabled behavior changes towards a circular economy in the Asian markets by using local social capital and behavioral engagement mechanisms. We do this by fusing the existing physical infrastructure of Envac with the existing digital infrastructure of LocalLife. The prestudy had the following objectives: 1. Expand on the current state of the local needs assessment by the local stakeholders 2. Design System Requirements for Envac ReFlow as a new service of Envac 3. Setup international pilots All objectives were met in the prestudy.

Expected long term effects

By conducting a needs assessment in specific regions, the prestudy enabled the possibility for the internationalization of a scalable solution that can strengthen the local circular economies where Envac operates. The project is expected to strengthen Envac´s position in a smart city context, where Envac ReFlow represents one of the few solutions that strengthen local resource management and local social capital. The prestudy produced all deliverables and has led to new opportunities that were not anticipated at the inception of the project.

Approach and implementation

The prestudy was initiated with a needs assessment of potential stakeholders that are impacted when implementing Envac ReFlow. Using the results from the assessment, an interaction design was developed with intended end-users. The design was used as the foundation for identifying the technical adaptations and development of the local system architecture and system integrations. The project participated in international conferences to increase knowledge on concurrent challenges in new smart city initiatives and created the preconditions for international pilots.
