Purpose and goal
UCIRK aims to develop and evaluate education modules in circularity. These will provide companies and researchers with the skills needed to succeed in the transition to a circular economy. The content focuses on areas such as remanufacturing, repair, sustainable product design and circular business models, that are linked to current regulations. The goal of UCIRK is to increase the long term competitiveness of the Swedish manufacturing industry after running the education modules in circularity.
Expected effects and result
Expected results: - Module-based courses in circularity. - Pilot educations carried out with systematic evaluation. - Integration into the academy´s doctoral education programs and university courses. Effects: - Skills development in industry through implemented circular methods. - Improved readiness of circular regulations. - Reduced resource use and emissions in Swedish manufacturing. - Improved resilience and competitiveness. - Nationally coordinated competence platform on circularity.
Planned approach and implementation
UCIRK consists of 4 academic partners and 3 companies and is organized into 5 work packages; 1) Project management; 2) Identification of the Needs of Circularity Competence; 3) Matching the Needs of Circularity Competence; 4) Developing the Education Modules on Circularity; and 5) Execute the Education Modules on Circularity. Linköping University lead the project supported by a steering group. The structure integrates research, education, and industry while remaining flexible for customization.
