Important results from the project

Edge Learning Consortium has strengthened Sveriges AI-kompetens through research and innovation in edge learning. The project achieved its goals by establishing Edge Learning Lab, to create international collaborations with, among others, International Universities, Cyber-centers and ESA, and accelerating AI use in mobility, health and space. It has also given Sweden a strong position in AI security through early work on privacy preservation to prevent data leaks, etc.

Expected long term effects

The project has strengthened Sweden´s position in AI and created a platform for continued research and innovation. In the long term, increased AI competence, more international collaborations and investments, and broader use of edge learning in industry are expected. The work in AI security and data management can also influence future policy development and give Sweden a leading role in the development of safe and effective AI solutions.

Approach and implementation

The project was carried out in collaboration between the public sector, industry and Swedish and international universities, with Edge Learning Lab as the central testbed. The plan was followed, some technical and regulatory challenges arose requiring adaptations. Collaboration worked well and led to strong international networks. The focus on AI security became more important than expected. The project has laid the foundation for continued research and innovation.
