Important results from the project

The overall goal of raising and working on the issue of data sharing between actors within the forest-sawmill value chain based on a prototype for a data sharing platform was achieved and the work led to interesting insights and great engagement. The prototype used during the project has not been implemented, even though that was not the main purpose of the project. Interdisciplinary elements provided valuable insights into how digital technology and relationships interact in data sharing.

Expected long term effects

The project was expected to contribute to more sustainable production where efficiency improvements strengthen the competitiveness and profitability of the forest sector. It would also contribute to a more stimulating work environment and ultimately contribute to the development of rural areas in Sweden.

Approach and implementation

The project was carried out by a working group composed of people from the research organizations. Collaboration with other parties worked well and was based on project meetings and contributions like participation in interviews, observations, user tests and other data. The approach was exploratory and had to be continuously adapted to the conditions. Challenges were posed by external factors such as the pandemic and internal factors like staff turnover and lack of time. The project was delayed.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
