Important results from the project
The goal of this project was to use the two national test beds in AM, DiLAM and DiSAM, to demonstrate how AM can be integrated into an innovative and sustainable advanced manufacturing supply chain. This was accomplished by development and manufacturing of physical demonstrators, using environmentally friendly materials, which were showcased at an open workshop and seminar day called Digi Demo Day 2019.
Expected long term effects
During the project, several industrially relevant demonstrators were manufactured. These were from different industry sectors, for example from the automotive industry and consumer products. Digi Demo Day was a well-attended workshop with representatives form large manufacturing companies, SMEs, material suppliers, universities, research institutes, the Swedish Armed Forces and public funding bodies. The workshop contained for example presentations from industry and academia, exhibition with 3D printed products and materials and a live demonstration of robot based AM.
Approach and implementation
The project was carried out within the testbeds DiLAM and DiSAM in close collaboration with SIP Lightweight and SIP Produktion2030. During the spring, physical and virtual demonstrators were selected, both from within the testbeds but also from external partners. During the project, RISE IVF invested in new equipment for the robot based 3D printer part of the testbed DiLAM in order to enable AM of sustainable materials and hybrid manufacturing. The demonstrators and testbeds were showcased during Digi Demo Day which had over 50 external participants attending.
