Important results from the project
The project aimed to explore the possibilities offered by a digital platform for data sharing between municipalities and operators of shared micromobility services. The goal was to improve the city´s possibilities for regulation and control of the offered services through the analysis of travel data from the operators, as well as to offer both the city and the operators new opportunities to use geofencing. The project has achieved all set objectives.
Expected long term effects
The project has provided the municipality with a powerful tool for the analysis and planning of traffic, for digital regulation and for follow-up of the operators´ compliance with set rules. Data from the platform has formed an important basis for the municipality´s work, e.g for the development of a fleet cap and a method for the allocation of vehicles within the municipality, for proposals for handling the national parking ban, for systematic follow-ups of companies´ compliance with regulations, and in ongoing strategic work with shared micromobility within the municipality.
Approach and implementation
The municipality and all operators of shared micromobility services have joined a data sharing platform called Cityscope which is based on MDS. The companies submit travel data and the municipality enters regulations into the platform. This provides the municipality with travel data that can be analyzed and explored in different ways, while the operators get access to all regulations within the municipality digitally through the platform. It is now a requirements that all operators in the municipality connect to the platform in order to obtain land use permission within Gothenburg.
